The Keys to Winter Skin Health

As we navigate the chilly outdoor weather, it's essential to remember the impact it can have on our skin. Bracing against the cold isn't just about staying warm; it's also about safeguarding our skin's health. Here's how you can effectively protect your skin from the harsh winter elements:

Go Easy on the Cleansing: Winter calls for a gentler approach to facial cleansing. Limit washing your face to once a day, particularly if your skin feels tight or dry afterwards. In the evenings, go for a thorough cleanse to remove the day's impurities and makeup. However, in the mornings, a simple splash of water might be all you need. This helps preserve your skin's natural moisture.  I prefer to wash morning and night and have found that my skin stays hydrated through winter when I use our Refine & Restore Serum. Choose cream-based cleansers for added hydration, or opt for oil cleansers for a more nourishing experience, ensuring your skin's natural oils aren't stripped away.

Don’t Forget the Lip Balm: Your lips need extra attention during winter. Opt for a gentle lip balm that doesn't cause a tingling or stinging sensation, as such reactions can indicate dehydrating ingredients like camphor or menthol. Instead, look for lip balms with hydrating ingredients like glycerin, shea butter, beeswax, olive oil, castor oil, and coconut oil. These components not only provide immediate relief but also create a protective barrier, locking in moisture for long-lasting softness and protection against harsh winter weather.

Hydration and Protection - Essential Winter Skincare Habits: Maintain skin hydration from the inside out by drinking at least 64 ounces of water daily. This internal hydration is crucial during the cold, dry months. Additionally, using a humidifier in your home can combat the drying effects of indoor heating. Don't forget to protect your skin with scarves, gloves, and hats when outside. These garments provide a protective barrier against the cold and wind, helping to prevent windburn and excessive dryness. By covering exposed areas, you're giving your skin an extra layer of protection, preserving its natural, nourishing oils. This external protection, combined with proper hydration, forms a comprehensive approach to keeping your skin healthy and radiant throughout the winter season.
